Victoria Police’s missing persons squad is combing through Victoria’s high country in an active crime scene.
Forensic investigators have been taking photos of the scene, which is off a dirt road in a remote area of bushland in Moondarra, a small town about 20 minutes north of Moe.
Police will not confirm whether human remains have been found.
“Further information will be available when it is operationally appropriate to do so,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.
SES volunteers from Moe arrived on the scene just after 5.30pm on Saturday to assist police with lighting and crime scene preservation.
